Long Course: 18 miles, 10% single track, 80% double track, 10% gravel and paved road.
Short Course: 11 miles, 80% double track, 20% gravel and paved road.
Note: The first two miles of the bike course cross private property and are closed to participants until race day. Please respect the property owners request and refrain from riding or running on the trail or entering the property in any way. Anyone caught on the property can be arrested for trespassing and will be disqualified from the FAT Tire Triathlon.
After leaving the transition area you exit the Telemark Pointe grounds via a trail heading to the south. After crossing County Road M you ride on Cable Area Snowmobile trail 77. The snowmobile trail merges with the Namakagon Trail Cluster (visit CAMBA) approximately 1/2 mile south of Namakagon Town Hall.
At this point you turn left and ride scenic sections of the Namakagon Trail and Pasty Lake Trail. The trails offer a variety of terrain with panoramic views and scenary left behind by the last ice age.
Both the long and short bike courses leave the trails via fire road 203, an easier gravel road for 2 miles to Garmisch Road and then on paved Garmisch Road to the powerline trail. Riders finish the last mile on the powerline trail to get the legs ready for the run.
You enter the Telemark Pointe grounds on the gravel driveway and finish back at the transition area.
ANSI or SNELL approved helmets are required.
Drafting: Go ahead. Give it a shot. Drafting is allowed anywhere on the course.
Aero bars: Aero bars are prohibited in the race. Bar ends are acceptable as long as they are 6 inches or less.
Cyclocross bikes: Sorry, no Cyclocross bikes are allowed. All participants must ride a mountain bike.
